Today Barbara and I went in search of Manatee’s. Unfortunately, the weather was warm over the weekend, which warmed the surface water and the Manatee’s moved out into the Gulf to cooler waters. We did enjoy the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge. The water here is supplied by the Three Sister Springs. Up to 20 million gallons of water per day flows into the refuge and then on to the Gulf of Mexico. The water here is tested monthly and has an average purity of 99.7%. However, this water is currently being looked at as a source of bottled water, which would destroy the habitat for the Manatee’s. Lets hope this doesn’t happen.
